Fight the Bosses not Refugees!

Anti Refugee rhetoric pits workers against workers in a race to the bottom. We are told that if we let refugees in they will take away resources from our people. This is a legitimate concern, because working people have little enough as it is. However, our poverty is artificial. We live in a world of abundance, working people create more and more wealth every day. We have more than enough to feed every hungry child on planet earth, it is the distribution of wealth that keeps us poor. We must stand together to win back what we produce!

Refugees are not our enemy, the bosses are. They pay us measly wages and evict us when we can’t pay the rent or mortgage. Workers across the country are beginning to realize this. Low wage workers have begun organizing to win a minimum wage of 15 dollars an hour and union rights. Victories have already been won in Seattle and elsewhere.

Anti refugee protesters were angered by foreclosure, this is a legitimate rage. To see a family tossed into the cold by the banks is one of the horrors of capitalism. However, the anger was aimed at the wrong enemy. Refugees don’t evict people, banks do. Working people across the country have organized to fight evictions, putting the bankers on the run. In Rochester the Eviction Free Zone project housed homeless families and fought against foreclosure. This is the working class answer to the housing crisis, the only answer that will guarantee free housing for all.

Veterans are the first victims of United States imperialism, sent to die for the profits of the ruling class. When they come home, broken, they are given nothing but lip service by the system that sent them to the slaughter. This is not the fault of refugees, the ruling class has always thrown away veterans like broken toys. The system now seeks to play two different victims of imperialism against each other in a race to the bottom. We must stand against this division and respond with a unified working class voice! The working class in America produces enough wealth to feed, clothe and house every veteran and every refugee. We need only stand shoulder to shoulder and not let them pit us against each other.
