In June the New Jersey legislature passed a bill that would have raised the statewide minimum wage to $15 by 2021. ‘If Chris Christie vetoes it,’ they said, ‘we’ll put the issue on the ballot for voters to decide in 2017. As expected, Christie vetoed the bill at the end of August. Yet we’re still waiting for legislators to keep their promise! Instead of passing a resolution to let people vote on the bill they already passed, $15 for all workers by 2021 some representatives want to talk about carve-outs for youth and farm workers. They even want to extend the phase in to 2022!
Let’s take it to the streets this Black Friday! Join us outside the Walmart in Kearny and Mays Landing NJ. Let’s raise a mighty roar in solidarity with working people who need $15 NOW!
